Daddies Donuts and Delites in St Petersburg

Published on 05/13/23: Daddies Donuts and Delites on Central Ave! Word of warning, some “bad” words below. #earmuffs First, we’re halfway done with the week, and for those with kids, school is nearly out. Good thing? Bad thing? I hear mixed reviews. Either way, time flies!

No Dam In This Donut Shop

So, I let my son (Colt) choose one of our recent “adventures”. (for new followers, that’s what we call our #supportlocal outings) While riding around in the backseat, plotting ways he could use the word “dam” to get under my skin, Colt noticed Daddies Donut’s on Central Avenue. “Oh look! A donut place! Do you think they have a dam inside?” I replied “no” and kept driving, watching his head turn like an owl in the rear view mirror, eyes stuck on their sign.

“Waittttt, I wasn’t serious about my dam question, I actually want that to be our adventure!!” [queue me speeding up and nearing the interstate ramp for this game of hard ball]

Long story somewhat short (a rarity on LSP), I eventually turned around and parked in front of the ol’ donut shop. Turns out, this is far from an ‘ol donut shop! Daddies certainly meets the “Google Review” criteria, boasting a 4.7 out of 5 stars. It also checks off the locally owned box!

How Daddies Donuts Came to Be!

Turns out, this was an idea brainstormed between 4 locals during the ever eventful 2020. John Miller (a baker), Jerome Bailey, Joel Cutler, and Joshua Zitting all wanted to “be a bigger part of the St Pete community”. They all had a business background, so it just made sense to open a business. And with John’s baking expertise, they decided a bakery made the most sense. Daddies Donuts and Delites was born!

They wanted it “to be bright, and have an old school feel with a new flair.” So in comes the “big Pink Neon Sign for Instagram Selfies, and and Pink Fridge to match.”

Daddies Donuts Offers Incredible Toppings

They also wanted it to be more than an ordinary donut shop. The donuts are no joke. Each one is made to order, with toppings and curated blends that would make Willy Wonka envious. French Toast, Campfire Treats, Berry Berry Good, Caramel Apple Pie and about 25 other concoctions! Or simply create your own blend, choosing the toppings you like best.

Additionally, they serve homemade ice cream, brownies, cookies, as well as coffee and a few other items! Check it a look the next time you’re in the mood for donuts or dessert.

Lastly, they offer catering, call ahead take out, and delivery!
