Published on 09/15/21: Who knows North Shore Park? If you enjoy Downtown St Pete and are looking for the nearest park with an abundance of amenities, check out North Shore! In fact, this park offers potentially more amenities of any we’ve found thus far in Pinellas.

Amenities

North Shore Park offers 6 beach volleyball courts, 4 tennis courts, and lighted softball field, all of which are available for rental! Rates are pictured. You can also take your chance with first come first serve, for no fee. Renting simply gives you confirmation for a certain day/time. You also have the North Shore Aquatic Complex, which is where Joe Finke coaches. Yes, the father of Bobby Finke who won the Olympic Gold a couple months ago! The pool is open to the public, rates and hours are pictured. This area includes a kids play pool which is now open again (their website will be updated soon).

While there’s plenty of sand nearby for kids to play (a “beach” of sorts), Colt’s focus is typically the playground. North Shore offers the usual slides and equipment, though he gets a kick out of the rock wall and other climbing opportunities provided. Seems the designer had a love for going vertical! There’s also an abundance of trees nearby for shade while playing, keeping our family dermatologists happy. Shout out to Dr. J.P. Galliani and Dr. Naomi Johansen at St. Petersburg Dermatology!

Finally, there’s a nice ‘Large and Small Dog Park’. Note it’s closed during these scheduled maintenance windows: Tuesday, 7:00 – 9:00am & Friday 1:00 – 3:00pm

North Shore Park is Waterfront

North Shore Park is waterfront and only a five minute scenic walk to the Vinoy and all that Beach Drive has to offer. If you take this stroll, you’ll often see dolphin as well as manatee in the Vinoy Basin. The wide sidewalks provide the most common route to downtown, where bikers, walkers, joggers and skaters often intermingle in the Florida sunshine with the skyline and Tampa Bay as the backdrop. However for the most scenic route, the seawall can be used, using discretion if you have kids.
