Published on 10/06/23: Locally owned Social Roost Kitchen and Bar in downtown St Pete! While there are quite a few weekend brunch spots, that’s not the case during the week. Limited options. Whether you have a flexible schedule, vacationing, or my real estate client visiting from out of town, I needed a nice weekday brunch spot recommendation. Even better if it’s only a couple blocks off the water…

I present to you, Social Roost! A scratch kitchen serving delicious brunch, 6 days a week (closed Monday). Plus, they offer so much more, including small plates, dinner, and very popular cocktails!

Born and raised in St Petersburg, Rob Bowen and Jason Teabout have poured their hearts into Social Roost. After serving 24 years in the US Army, Jason partnered up with Rob Bowen to brainstorm the restaurant. They teamed up with New York City’s Executive Chef, Susan Burdian on the culinary concept. Creating a “globally inspired menu from a scratch kitchen […] And delicious food deserves delicious cocktails. Rob and Jason developed cocktails around social themes to create the ultimate lavish craft cocktail menu.”

Some may know Rob as the founder of Rob Bowen Design Group (interior design). However, if you’re unfamiliar, his background will all click when you step into Social Roost. My wife was immediately brainstorming a girls brunch in one of Rob’s “glamorous” booths.

“Plush”, “Posh”, her list goes on, as I was grasping for a proper description this morning. Sounds fancy, though they offer meals priced accordingly with other brunch spots…$14-$20’ish. Some items are pricier, mainly dinner entrees, topping out with the very popular $42 short ribs… “Butter whipped potatoes, rainbow Swiss chard, red wine beef Demi glace, fried shallots”.

Social Roost’s food, cocktails, and service are not to be outdone by their walkable downtown location. The waterfront parks, green space, and marinas are only a 5 minute stroll away! After your meal, grab a park bench and watch the sailboats and other vessels head to and from port.

Open for small plates from 4-5pm and dinner after 5pm.
