Tampa Bay Automobile Museum in Pinellas Park – Vintage Cars

Published on 12/22/22: Anyone familiar with the Tampa Bay Automobile Museum in Pinellas Park? The vintage car museum has 708 reviews, with a stellar 4.8/5 average on Google. Recently, Colt and I thoroughly enjoyed going back in time to see these classics firsthand! When I say ‘back in time’ there’s a DeLorean onsite that might just be able to do it. “Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads!”

Alright, so with the holidays upon us, many often host their parents and grandparents. In these cases, rock climbing gyms, playgrounds, and some of my other suggestions may not always be a fit. Last year, during the holidays, I suggested the highly rated, American Victory Ship & Museum in Tampa. An adventure that my military dad (and our family) very much enjoyed while he was in town. It was also a treat for Colt to walk around the large vessel, even cranking the turrets to “fire” the huge guns. Occasionally you can even find discounted tickets on Groupon.

Tampa Bay Automobile Musuem – Great for Car Enthusiasts and History Buffs

Back to the Tampa Bay Automobile Museum, as it falls into a similar bucket, though logistically might be more of a fit for some. This privately owned museum “features a unique collection of vintage cars and vehicles that demonstrate special creativity and imagination in their history and engineering. They include pioneering front wheel drive and rear engine cars from the 1920’s and 1930’s, and each vehicle was chosen based on the engineering achievements that made it an important part of the evolution of the automobile. Visitors enjoy a provocative blend of art and science in 19,000 square feet of gallery space.”

They also have a small gift shop with toys and a few other items. A number of which were reasonably priced in my opinion. We paid $9/each for two car replicas (toys) that Colt enjoyed racing immediately afterwards at Crescent Lake Park.

What Cars Are at the Tampa Bay Automobile Museum?

As far as the cars onsite: Tracta, Citroën, Panhard and Voisin (France); Tatra and Aero (Czechoslovakia); DKW, Audi, Auto Union and Mercedes (Germany); Alvis, Allard and BSA (England); DeLorean (Ireland); Stearns-Knight, Willys-Knight, Cord and Ruxton (USA). They also have  the “world’s only faithful and operational reproduction of the French 1770 Fardier de Cugnot, the world’s first self-propelled vehicle.”
