Harvey’s Restaurant in St Petersburg

Published on 05/07/21: Whew, anyone glad the weekend is almost here? I know I am! Alright, so for this #SupportLocal giveaway of two gift cards, Colt and I went hyperlocal yesterday. I’m talking about Harvey’s 4th Street Grill, located just 2.5 miles north of downtown St Pete!

This third generation and family friendly restaurant is a fixture here in St Pete and has been dishing up delicious comfort food for 36 years! (1136 Google Reviews, 4.5/5 avg). To enter this giveaway, simply comment below with a place/activity around the Tampa Bay area that kids might enjoy. We’re always trying to build our list of places to “research”, photograph, and post about! We would also love for you to tag who you would bring to Harvey’s! The two winners will be selected this Tuesday evening (5/11), each receiving a $50 gift card to this iconic restaurant!

Harvey’s is known for legendary Full Moon Parties, grouper nuggets, red eye shrimp and broccoli bites. The broccoli bites aren’t what some of us were forced to eat growing up. While they contain broccoli, they’re also loaded with cheese, carrots, onion and bacon – then fried & served with horseradish sauce! 😮 Our waitress recommended all three items above to us, saying many ask over and over for those items. Good stuff!

Tampa Bay Times Article

A 2005 Tampa Bay Times article explains how Harvey’s is loaded w/ local history. Dan Harvey “got the maple floorboards for his restaurant from the ballroom at the Vinoy Park Hotel before it was renovated [….] and some doors from the old Webb’s City retail complex. He retrieved several chalkboards from St. Pete Beach’s Sunshine School and placed those in the bathroom walls.” Another Times article listed it as ‘One of Tampa Bay’s 25 Most Iconic Restaurants’!

For those traveling solo, I suspect you’ll enjoy their unique bar area. A group would absolutely enjoy it too, though as a road warrior consultant for many years (the ol’ #MarriottTitanium came at an exhausting cost), my eye still catches places that seem especially inviting to those headed out solo. Harvey’s bar area definitely strikes me as a warm welcoming area with friendly locals. Enjoy!

Mike started LovingStPete in October of 2020 after a difficult year took its toll on local businesses. After being cooped up for portions of 2020 (lockdown) Mike and his son decided to get out and explore, helping spread the good word about the local area he loves so much. Often even doing gift card giveaways to support local. LovingStPete is now followed by over 48 thousand people on social media! The majority of posts are informative on fun parks, activities, day trips, great restaurants, and in general provide a comprehensive tour of the area!

Soon after receiving his bachelors in Management Information Systems, Mike developed and then operated a vacation rental advertising business for 10+ years as CEO/Owner. The business was eventually acquired by VRBO. Mike has earned the trust of many large clients over the years. Such as NFL, Wynn Resorts, Blue Cross Blue Shield, VISA, Genuine Parts Company (NAPA Auto Parts), AT&T, and other Fortune 500 companies.

When not spending time with his beautiful wife and energetic son, Mike enjoys boating and is also an avid tennis player. An interesting fact about Mike is that he grew up on an avocado farm with over 15 varieties, some of which you can find in our local Publix/Winn Dixie as his dad still farms the same farm at 87 years old!
