Lake Seminole Park in Seminole FL – Just North of St Pete

Published on 06/13/21: A number of followers highly recommended Lake Seminole Park, so of course we checked it out! This particular park is huge, with many possibilities for the entire family. I’m talking 250 acres, several ponds, a lake, trails, 13 covered picnic shelters/pavilions, ball field, playgrounds, boat ramp, volleyball court, plus options for fishing. A great park! And if we were hosting a large gathering outdoors, this seems like the spot, especially considering the large pavilions. As a bonus, the main playground is very large with plenty of equipment to keep kids entertained while parents watch from shaded areas.

Lake Seminole Park Wildlife

Just make sure you don’t pack for your visit based on Wikipedia, as the website notes: “the park is also well known for duck hunting”. I can confirm that’s not the case, as Lake Seminole Park is actually a designated wildlife habitat and sanctuary. Leave the duck blind at home and instead bring a football, frisbee, chips, dips, walking shoes, and camera. 😊 Animals who have taken refuge in the park include raccoons, alligators, waterfowl, hawks, bald eagles, black vultures, tortoises and turtles. The area is perfect for nature enthusiasts! The Pinellas County website even notes that the swings & benches throughout the park have been “strategically situated” to provide the best views.

There’s a 2-mile paved trail for jogging, hiking, bicycling/roller-blading, or opt for the 1-mile cut-off for a shorter route. We also found some unpaved trails for extra adventures.

Keep in mind you’re in a nature preserve, there are snakes. As I crouched down to take a 📸 by the pond, I noted one peering at me through some taller grass. I wished him the best and then carried on a few feet further away.

Lake Seminole Park Hill

Several followers specifically called out the ‘hill’ at Lake Seminole Park. There’s certainly a lakeside hill that’s perfect for rolling down or maybe flying a kite. Does anyone know the story behind it? My searches came up empty.
Lake Seminole Park is Wheelchair Accessible, plus there are restrooms and water fountains.

The business was eventually acquired by VRBO. Mike has earned the trust of many large clients over the years.
