Here’s some info from our trip aboard Dolphin Racer last week:

We’ve seen many-a-dolphin-boat pass by St Pete Beach this summer on their daily trips. With so many different boats, which one was best for us? Having worked at SeaWorld, Amy’s bar is high, so I couldn’t let this adventure go sideways. Fortunately, upon researching, the decision was easy once I found Dolphin Racer Speedboat! Their reviews are fantastic on Google, TripAdvisor & Yelp (below). They even offer a guarantee that you’ll see dolphin surfing or your next trip is free. They offer sodas & water (small charge), boat has a restroom and Colt said it ‘really looks like a speedboat’. #DecisionMade
Our captain & navigator were awesome, working hard to ensure we saw dolphin wake surf. As a boater myself, I appreciated their skills in keeping us & other boaters safe. I mean they don’t know what obstacles will be present when the dolphins show up. Even noting on one occasion that the dolphin were too close to the no wake area, so they continued searching until finding plenty in a safer spot.
We also got a kick out of their banter back and forth, mixing in humor during the lulls. We basically had Chandler & Ross (#Friends) taking us through the waterways. They’ve certainly found their calling and easily earned a tip from us! I wanted their job after the trip. (over the next 72 hours, follow our ‘stories’ for some videos of our trip 🐬)

My Tips for the Dolphin Racer Speedboat

  1. Arrive 20+ min early for a seat near stern (back) of the boat for best viewing.
  2. Book online 24-48 hrs ahead of time to ensure you have a seat.
  3. If you aren’t near the back, once dolphin are spotted, simply rotate along back railing.
  4. Bring a towel for your seat in case it’s toasty.
  5. Bring a hat and/or sunscreen.
