Just Say “No” to Shoveling Snow and Visit St Petersburg Instead

First, if you’re a snowbird and not already following LovingStPete on social media (FB/IG), make sure to give Mike Braswell’s guide to our area a follow! Over 42K+ follow along for local Tampa Bay Area ideas, and most recommendations are rated 4.5+ out of 5 on Google Reviews.

Are you tired of shoveling snow, scraping ice off your windshield, and bundling up every time you step outside in the wintertime? Well, fear not my friends, because I have the perfect winter escape for you! Say goodbye to those winter blues and hello to sunny skies and warm weather in Tampa Bay, Florida! Tampa Bay is a popular destination for Snowbirds – those who migrate to warmer climates during the winter months. There are many factors to consider when heading south to the Tampa Bay Area for the winter. This includes St Petersburg, Clearwater Beach, St Pete Beach, Treasure Island, Indian Rocks Beach, and many other tropical communities around our beautiful area!

Accommodations While Being a Snowbird

The first step in planning your snowbird escape to the Tampa Bay Area is finding a place to stay. There are plenty of options ranging from luxury resorts (short term) to modest condos. St. Petersburg, Treasure Island, and Madeira Beach offer great accommodations with direct beach access. Clearwater Beach and Indian Rocks Beach also have a wide variety of lodging options to suit every budget. If you’re looking for convenience and amenities, consider renting a fully furnished condominium. Many complexes are beachfront and have on-site recreational activities such as golf courses, tennis courts, and fitness centers.

Snowbird Activities

Our Tampa Bay Area offers numerous outdoor activities for snowbirds to enjoy. My LovingStPete guide on social media has hundreds of places to visit, from restaurants to animal encounters. Beach excursions are always a hit, but there are also plenty of sightseeing opportunities in the area. The Clearwater Marine Aquarium is a great family-friendly attraction, previously home to Winter the dolphin (RIP), star of the movie Dolphin Tale. If you’re feeling adventurous, head out to the Tampa Electric’s Manatee Viewing Center in Apollo Beach, where you can observe these gentle giants up close and personal. If you’re looking for more adventure, visit Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, a theme park with a variety of thrill rides, animal exhibits, and live shows. Or if you’re looking for a more laid-back experience, stroll around the quaint downtown districts of St. Petersburg, Dunedin, Pass-a-Grille, and/or Safety Harbor.

Dining Around Tampa Bay

Our Gulf Coast Area offers a wide range of dining options, catering to all tastes and budgets. For seafood lovers, there are plenty of options for fresh seafood- lobsters, shrimp, oyster are all big in the Gulf Coast. Try Dockside Dave’s famous Fish and Chips or Frenchy’s Original Cafe for some great seafood dishes and outdoor dining surrounded by beautiful Florida scenery. Grab an authentic Cuban sandwich from Columbia Restaurant or a slice of pizza at Slyce Madeira Beach. If you’re in the mood for something sweet, you could try O’Shea’s Irish Pub’s Nutella French Toast or Beachside Ice Cream Shoppe’s hand dipped ice cream. You’ll never go hungry around Tampa Bay!

The Weather You Deserve as a Snowbird

One of Florida’s biggest attractions and benefits is its weather. This is of course the case in our Tampa Bay Area. During the winter months, temperatures in here generally hover in the mid 60s-70s range (sometimes into the 80’s), making it the perfect escape from the frigid northern winter. You can pack light because the temperature is never too extreme, and rain is not quite as common in Florida’s “dry season.” It’s a great opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, swimming, and golfing without worrying about winter weather.

Tampa Bay Area is a Top Choice

Tampa Bay is an ideal snowbird destination with its temperate climate, plethora of outdoor activities, and range of accommodations and dining options. Whether you’re looking to stay in a luxurious resort, enjoy outdoor recreation, or indulge in fresh seafood, Tampa Bay has got you covered. Plan your escape to Tampa Bay, and say goodbye to those winter blues for good!
