Largo Central Park in Florida – 70 Acres, Huge Playground & more

Published on 06/29/23: Who knows Largo Central Park and/or loves expansive green space? For those with kids, how about if it includes one of the largest playgrounds in Central Florida? And for bonus points a 1.2 mile train ride aboard a large model train set? All for free!

Largo Central Park has Incredible Reviews

Largo Central Park checks in with 4.8/5 stars out of 7500+ Google reviews. This 70 acre park checks off many boxes with the huge canopy of trees, very large playground, events, train rides one weekend per month, and much more. The playground is advertised as “one of the largest in Central Florida” and one of the few that’s completely accessible to disabled users!

My last few posts have included parks to the west and north of St Pete, however there’s a reason. So long as you’re driving ie 30 minutes, consider combining a couple parks together. For instance, the follower yesterday making a drive to Blossom Lake for the children’s zip line. It’s a great park, however I suggested including The Narrows on the same trip. This adds another zip line, trails, and rescued birds. Together, between both parks, I’m nearly certainly she won’t have any regrets making the drive. #NoRegerts #NotEvenOneLetter

Largo Central Park’s Playground

Alright, the playground. Making my fraternity brothers and buddies proud one playground at a time. Lol. #dadlife This one is completely fenced and setup for children ages 2-12, with “over 117 play events, a soft resilient synthetic turf safety surface, and lots of action activities […] including lots of shade from the majestic oaks and a centrally located shade structure where parents can have a great view of the entire playground.” Outside of zip line playgrounds, this is near the top of Colt’s list. Lots of time could be spent here as they roam the equipment.

Largo Central Railroad Train

The train ride! Certainly unique, free, and *typically* runs on the first weekend of the month. The Largo Central Railroad is a non-profit – your donations are much appreciated to keep the train running. Even non-profits have expenses and need to keep the lights on. I’ll do a separate post on the train as Colt and I took a ride on it for y’all. We’re invested here at LovingStPete!

Events at the Park

Largo Central Park is also home to many events: Independence Day, Movies in the Park, Holiday Lights w/ Ferris Wheel, Memorial Day, Touch-a-Truck.

Mike Braswell is a Tampa Bay Realtor, serving St Petersburg, Clearwater, all nearby beaches and more. Mike started LovingStPete in October of 2020 after a difficult year took its toll on local businesses. After being cooped up for portions of 2020 (lockdown) Mike and his son decided to get out and explore, helping spread the good word about the local area he loves so much. Often even doing gift card giveaways to support local. LovingStPete is now followed by over 48 thousand people on social media! The majority of posts are informative on fun parks, activities, day trips, great restaurants, and in general provide a comprehensive tour of the area!

Soon after receiving his bachelors in Management Information Systems, Mike developed and then operated a vacation rental advertising business for 10+ years as CEO/Owner. The business was eventually acquired by VRBO. Mike has earned the trust of many large clients over the years. Such as NFL, Wynn Resorts, Blue Cross Blue Shield, VISA, Genuine Parts Company (NAPA Auto Parts), AT&T, and other Fortune 500 companies.

When not spending time with his beautiful wife and energetic son, Mike enjoys boating and is also an avid tennis player. An interesting fact about Mike is that he grew up on an avocado farm with over 15 varieties, some of which you can find in our local Publix/Winn Dixie as his dad still farms the same farm at 87 years old!
