Holiday Lights of Lake Park Estates

Published on 12/12/23: It’s once again time for “The Lights of Lake Park Estates”. The 31st annual event is open all December!

Anyone familiar? Up for a driving tour of lights while sipping hot chocolate? This LovingStPete activity suggestion includes 3+ miles of decorated homes near Seminole, viewable nightly from 6pm to 10pm. (25+- min from downtown St Pete)

Visit Lake Park Estates Early in December if Possible

I recommend visiting sooner rather than later, as traffic increases near Christmas. I also recommend visiting near 6pm, if possible. Last year on Dec 23rd at 8pm, traffic was backed up 30 min. Colt and I visited last week and had zero wait!

Some homes take it up a notch, synchronizing their lights to music. Look for the sign that has you switch your radio to a particular station.

Walking the Lights

Walking the lights: Per website, no parking in the neighborhood. Park outside and then walk in. Sarah’s Walking Club, Linda and crew, this seems up your alley!

History of Lights at Lake Park Estates

“The Lights of Lake Park Estates originated in 1993 to celebrate the life of our neighbor, Ruby Dow, and salute the care she received from our community hospice, Suncoast Hospice […] the neighborhoods of Lake Park Estates, Wieker, Lakeside Estates, and Lake Seminole Village, generously decorate with over 3 miles of Christmas Lights & Decorations for the public to enjoy”.

These intersection addresses will get you near the neighborhood.

Some GPSs say “Largo”, while others say “Seminole”.

Mike Braswell is a Tampa Bay Realtor, serving St Petersburg, Clearwater, all nearby beaches and more. Mike started LovingStPete in October of 2020 after a difficult year took its toll on local businesses. After being cooped up for portions of 2020 (lockdown) Mike and his son decided to get out and explore, helping spread the good word about the local area he loves so much. Often even doing gift card giveaways to support local. LovingStPete is now followed by over 48 thousand people on social media! The majority of posts are informative on fun parks, activities, day trips, great restaurants, and in general provide a comprehensive tour of the area!

Soon after receiving his bachelors in Management Information Systems, Mike developed and then operated a vacation rental advertising business for 10+ years as CEO/Owner. The business was eventually acquired by VRBO. Mike has earned the trust of many large clients over the years. Such as NFL, Wynn Resorts, Blue Cross Blue Shield, VISA, Genuine Parts Company (NAPA Auto Parts), AT&T, and other Fortune 500 companies.

When not spending time with his beautiful wife and energetic son, Mike enjoys boating and is also an avid tennis player. An interesting fact about Mike is that he grew up on an avocado farm with over 15 varieties, some of which you can find in our local Publix/Winn Dixie as his dad still farms the same farm at 87 years old!
