Memorial Day – Remembering Those Who Sacrificed It All

Published on 05/30/21: Memorial Day, when we remember the men and women who sacrificed it all while serving our country.

My mom and dad have had an American flag on our front porch in South Florida for as long as I can remember. Especially as a former Navy pilot, dad’s always recognizing the risk that brave men and women take to protect our freedoms. He’s also always honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice, just as we focus on this weekend.

In fact, right now we’re on the avocado farm, where I grew up (pic taken this morning). Dad still farms it at 85 years old, continuing to ship off the healthy fruit to groceries near you. Couldn’t pick a better weekend to visit and listen to hours of stories from Poppy. He’s quite the historian with an incredible memory. Thanks to our family in St Pete for house/pet sitting and making this possible! Colt even helped my dad setup his usual American flags at our neighborhood church today, dad’s standard procedure (2nd pic).
