My New Canon Camera Arrived! A Real Camera

Published on 10/19/23: Who enjoys all the wildlife around the Sunshine State? I couldn’t be more excited to finally dive into photography. Lots to learn. [91-‘93 Assistant to the Assistant High School newspaper photographer]

My new camera arrived last night, charged battery today…then this understanding and forgiving crew appeared out back just now.
Seemed they knew the situation and tried their best to set me up for a bit of initial success.

I translated their bird sounds to:

“Here, I’ll take-off while splashing a lot. Did you get it?”
“Now I’ll walk in front of my friend for a shot. Get it?”
“Here, I’ll leave this fish scale on my mouth for extra effect.”

Anhinga Catching Fish in St Petersburg

And then how about the Anhinga catching the fish! That fella just schooled me in fishing. “Watch this…”.

Need to click on pictures to see full images (in correct scale) of the trophy he proudly displayed. Made it look easy today compared to what Colt and I go through to catch ours!
Several of his buddies were moving quickly under and above water. Believe I was able to follow the same bird though throughout his fishing excursion.
Now that I’m paying even more attention to wildlife, I need to work on identification. For instance, difference between Anhingas and Cormorants. Based on long and pointy bill, today’s friend appears to be an Anhinga.

More Wildlife Photos to Come as I Learn

This is without post editing…because I don’t know how. Ha. Actually, I used a slight filter on two, but then decided they looked better w/o, so kept rest untouched.
I’ll still use my iPhone for our quick adventures; however, I can’t wait to explore the depths of our beautiful Tampa Bay Area with my new camera and lens. Will take me a good while to get 📸 fully figured out.
And I’ll still turn your property photos over to the real estate photography experts I trust. 🏡🏠  They crush it. This is simply a hobby, as I’ve been working toward doing more of what I love…outside of helping real estate clients (which I do truly love!)
Adventures/Travel + Photography + Tennis + Workout. Ideally fishing if time permits. Now to keep me accountable.
Life is short and I’m reminded of that all too often from the news and even in talking to friends. Hope everyone is having a great week. Cheers
