St Pete Park System is #1 in Florida and #14 in United States

Published on 05/12/22: Saint Petersburg has the #1 park system in Florida and 14th overall in the United States, per latest ParkScore® report! Here are pictures from a few of the ones I’ve covered so far.

Saint Petersburg Nature Parks are Incredible

You know I love visiting and sharing our favorite nature preserves and parks. We’re all fortunate to have many in the Tampa Bay Area! In fact, as I began summarizing our family’s visit to Clam Bayou (next post), I noted the recent ParkScore® ratings and realized it deserved its own post!

You may already know that St Pete has one of the five LARGEST waterfront park systems in North America. Well, ParkScore® recently released their ranking of the BEST park systems in the country. Saint Petersburg is #1 in FL and #14 in the country. As if everything else our area offers wasn’t enough! Thanks to the St. Petersburg Parks & Recreation for making this all possible!

What is the ParkScore Rating?

ParkScore® is created by the Trust For Public Land. With 184 parks, they noted that 77% of St Pete residents are within a 10 minute walk of a park. ParkScore® ratings are based on amenities, investment, acreage & access. https://www.tpl.org/parkscore

Glad Colt has an outdoor lifestyle similar to mine growing up

Having grown up on our family’s avocado farm in South Florida, I often received ‘the look’ from my dad if he walked by and I was watching TV. Needless to say, 99% of my childhood was spent outdoors. Picking avocados, finding critters, digging, climbing and everything else the farm offered. As luck would have it, post-farm, I settled in an area with even more to offer Colt outdoors! Plus, an incredible, nationally ranked city in the middle.
Shout out to my dad, a retired Delta Air Lines pilot and current full-time farmer, who’s still shipping 12 varieties of avocados to grocery chains around the country at the young age of 86.
