St Petersburg Grand Prix Car Race in Downtown St Pete | Video

Published on 04/23/21 (scroll down for video): Today we had a last-minute opportunity to attend the 17th annual Grand Prix of St. Petersburg! Colt was certainly fired up when we told him the news upon picking him up early from school. If you haven’t been, you should check it out!

We’re talking waterfront racetrack, city skyline as the backdrop, fast cars, tons of food, a variety of merchandise trucks/tents, cocktails, beer, fresh air outdoors, plus acres & acres of space to roam as you follow the track around!

I’ve been to my share of NASCAR races, this is different. I mean the grandstand is arguably not the best seat in the house. At the St Pete Grand Prix, even with the least expensive General Admission tickets ($60 total for a two-day adult pass) you can roam freely around much of the 1.8 mile track and 14 turns. There’s a fence and barricades for your protection, however otherwise you’re pretty much right there in the action.

To get your bearings, a great starting point would be the Mahaffey Theater which has a large patio overlooking the track. They also have a huge grassy area adjacent, providing additionally space for kids to play. Finally, there’s an Indy car right there on display for a closeup look and pictures!
