Favorite Locally Owned Restaurants in St Petersburg?

First, hope everyone had a great weekend! What are some of your favorite locally owned spots? Even better if it has a somewhat unassuming exterior, though inside lies a gem! They might enjoy a write-up and shout out, so add them below in the comments.

Little Italy in St Pete is a Hidden Gem

Operating since 1972, I suspect Little Italy isn’t exactly a ‘hidden’ gem for those of you who live nearby. However, if you’re 5 miles away like our family, it might be a new one for you! As with most all businesses I post, Little Italy is family owned. Tobia Spinelli, a native of Naples, Italy, opened the restaurant in 1972 in Disston Plaza Shopping Center. It has remained family owned ever since, staying within the same two families.

Philly Cheesesteak

In addition to being well known for pizzas and other dishes, Little Italy comes up quite a bit in Philly Cheesesteak convos online. You may recall, Colt and I wrote up Colonial Corner Hoagie Shop after trying their incredible Philly Cheesesteak! While CC seems to come up the most in those convos, Little Italy apparently isn’t far off!

While dining at Little Italy, we indulged in pizza, delicious garlic knots with marinara, and the Philly Cheese. All were great and we’ll definitely return! Next time we’ll include one of their salads for some veggies.

More Details About Little Italy

Counter service. Beer and wine are available. Something about the interior really makes it feel comfortable. Check out photo 3, towards the back of this surprisingly large pizza joint. They have quite a few booths and even a couple games…the neon area in my pics. Service was quick!
