St Pete Meat and Provisions in Downtown St Petersburg

Published on 10/24/23:  For those who enjoy a great steak and other cuts of meat, here’s a locally owned alternative to the big-box stores. Family-owned St. Pete Meat & Provisions! (music by ZZ Top, “Bar-B-Q” 🎸)

General Info About This Butcher Shop

As our family nears the end of unpacking, we finally have our grill setup. With that complete, it was time to refresh my research on where to buy our grilling supplies. The end result was visiting locally owned St Pete Meat & Provisions. Located on Central Ave and owned by same owners as IL Ritorno, the very popular downtown Italian restaurant!
Google Reviews: 4.7/5

“St. Pete Meat & Provisions is a family-owned butcher shop providing the Tampa Bay area with meticulously hand-cut meat and curated provisions […] from local and regional farms.”
The gal who advised us behind the counter was very helpful, giving Colt and I lessons on cuts of meat, preparation, and plus many cooking tips. I’m a fan of Publix (esp for pub subs 😬), however they’ve never spent 25+ minutes with me, discussing my meal goals!? So many advantages to shopping our local small businesses.

Thanksgiving Turkey

They’re now taking orders for Thanksgiving turkeys and the options sound delicious! Check their Facebook and IG for more info.

St Pete Meat is Locally Owned and Operated

“In 2020, with the pandemic shaping at-home cooking trends, James Beard and Food Network recognized Chef David Benstock opened a small meat market with a simple plan – fill a void in our area, make customers happy, and keep them coming back. From beef, including Wagyu and dry-aged beef, poultry, pork, house made sausages and jerky, bison, game meats, marinated meats, lamb and veal, we have something for everyone. We have a selection of frozen seafood, cheese and charcuterie, farm fresh eggs, dressings, sauces, marinades, fresh pasta, and house made provisions. The shop features a curated selection of dry goods such as seasonings, spices, rubs, oils, honey, jams, hot sauces, pickles, charcoal, crackers, cookbooks, and grilling tools.”

Mike Braswell is a Tampa Bay Realtor, serving St Petersburg, Clearwater, all nearby beaches and more. Mike started LovingStPete in October of 2020 after a difficult year took its toll on local businesses. After being cooped up for portions of 2020 (lockdown) Mike and his son decided to get out and explore, helping spread the good word about the local area he loves so much. Often even doing gift card giveaways to support local. LovingStPete is now followed by over 48 thousand people on social media! The majority of posts are informative on fun parks, activities, day trips, great restaurants, and in general provide a comprehensive tour of the area!

Soon after receiving his bachelors in Management Information Systems, Mike developed and then operated a vacation rental advertising business for 10+ years as CEO/Owner. The business was eventually acquired by VRBO. Mike has earned the trust of many large clients over the years. Such as NFL, Wynn Resorts, Blue Cross Blue Shield, VISA, Genuine Parts Company (NAPA Auto Parts), AT&T, and other Fortune 500 companies.

When not spending time with his beautiful wife and energetic son, Mike enjoys boating and is also an avid tennis player. An interesting fact about Mike is that he grew up on an avocado farm with over 15 varieties, some of which you can find in our local Publix/Winn Dixie as his dad still farms the same farm at 87 years old!
